The Second Sino-Russian-Kazakhstan Petroleum Forum Opens in Beijing The topic of this forum is “To deepen understanding and promote cooperationâ€
The Second China-Russia-Harbin Oil Forum took place in Beijing on November 30th, bringing together industry leaders, government officials, and business representatives from China, Russia, and Kazakhstan. The forum focused on the theme "Deepening Understanding and Promoting Cooperation," aiming to strengthen ties and explore practical solutions in areas such as investment, trade, transportation, and pricing within the oil sector.
This event served as a vital platform for enterprises from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, and other former Soviet states to exchange ideas, build partnerships, and enhance mutual understanding of the investment environment and energy policies in each country. It also aimed to identify new opportunities for collaboration on various petroleum projects and trade initiatives, fostering greater energy cooperation and mutual growth.
As the Chinese chairman of the Second Sino-Russian-Harbin Petroleum Forum, Li Yongwu, President of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, opened the event with a keynote speech. He emphasized that oil plays a crucial role in connecting the trade relations among the three countries. He highlighted recent developments, including PetroChina's successful acquisition of Kazakhstan’s PK Oil Company in October and the completion of the 970-kilometer Atashu-Alashankou pipeline in December. These milestones demonstrate the active progress of Sino-Russian oil cooperation and underscore the importance of how oil companies can further engage in regional energy partnerships.
Mr. Gordyev, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mining of Kazakhstan, echoed these sentiments, stating that the energy cooperation between the three nations is highly complementary. He noted that Russia and Kazakhstan are rich in energy resources, which align with their strategic goals for national development, while China’s rapidly growing economy continues to drive strong energy demand, offering a stable and reliable market. He added that the three countries have already laid a solid foundation for energy collaboration and that this forum marks the beginning of a significant period of opportunity.
The forum concluded on December 2, leaving participants optimistic about the future of energy cooperation between China, Russia, and Kazakhstan.
