Chicago Still & Box Alarm – 3/29/15

Here's a message from Eric Haak:

About 4:10 PM on Sunday afternoon (March 29), the Englewood Fire Alarm Office reported a fire at Garfield and Damen. The incident was quickly boxed by the office, and Engine 123 arrived to find a fully involved one-and-a-half story frame building. The photos in this gallery were taken approximately 20 minutes after the initial arrival.

The scene was intense with multiple units responding, including Engine 123 and Engine 101. Firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze, which had already spread significantly. The images captured show the firefighters in action, using the tower ladder and working closely with each other. It’s clear that this was a serious situation, and the response was swift and coordinated. The home was severely damaged, but no injuries have been reported so far. These photos give a real sense of what the emergency looked like on the ground.

BOPP Thermal Lamination Film

BOPP Thermal Lamination Film is a type of heat laminating film made from biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) as the base material and processed through special coating or composite techniques. It is mainly used for surface lamination of printed materials (such as book covers, packaging boxes, posters, etc.) to enhance their wear resistance, water resistance, glossiness and aesthetic appeal.

1. Key Feature
-High transparency: Maintaining the clarity and vividness of colors of printed materials.
-Excellent rigidity & flatness: BOPP substrate offers good stiffness and anti-curling property.
-Hot melt adhesive layer: Usually EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) or PUR (polyurethane) hot melt adhesives are adopted to ensure a firm bond.
-Temperature resistance: Adapt to the heating roller temperature of the laminating machine (typically 80~120℃).
-Waterproof and moisture-proof: Protect printed materials from the influence of moisture and stains.
-Glossy film: High gloss, enhancing visual effect.
-Matte film: Anti-glare, improving texture.
-Scratch-resistant/UV-resistant: Special coating to extend durability.

2. Application Fields
-Printing and Packaging: Book covers, picture albums, color boxes, labels.
-Commercial Promotion: Posters, menus, business cards, tags.
-Industrial Uses: Electronic product instructions, waterproof maps.

3. Production Process
-BOPP base film production: Two-dimensional stretched polypropylene film (to enhance strength and transparency).
-Coating/Composite: Apply hot melt adhesive (such as EVA) onto the BOPP substrate.
-Cutting & Conveying: Cut into different widths according to customer requirements (commonly 450mm/600mm etc.).
