Palatine moves into new station
In early May, Palatine Fire Department officially closed its old Station 81 located at 455 W. Dundee Road and relocated to the brand-new facility at 1215 N. Quentin Road. According to the official Palatine website:
"Construction is nearly complete on this new fire station at the corner of Quentin Road and Echo Lane. It replaces the old Station 81 on Dundee Road with a better-located facility that serves residents in the northwestern part of Palatine more effectively. The new station is also designed to meet the demands of 21st-century firefighting and rescue operations. We moved into the new location and started responding to calls from there on May 2, 2011."
Station 81 is staffed by three personnel: a Lieutenant and two firefighter/paramedics. Depending on the call, they operate either the quint or the ambulance. Additional support units are dispatched from other stations as needed. Alongside the quint and ambulance, the station also houses the Reserve Squad and the Reserve Command vehicle.
