Palatine moves into new station
In early May, Palatine Fire Department officially closed the old Station 81 located at 455 W. Dundee Road and relocated to its brand-new facility at 1215 N. Quentin Road. According to the official Palatine website:
"Construction is nearly complete on this new fire station at the corner of Quentin Road and Echo Lane. It replaces the old Station 81 on Dundee Road with a more strategically located station that better serves residents in the northwestern part of Palatine. This new facility is also designed to meet the demands of modern firefighting and emergency response. The department moved into the new station and began responding to calls from there on May 2, 2011."
Station 81 is staffed by three personnel: a Lieutenant and two firefighter/paramedics. Depending on the call, they respond either in the quint or the ambulance. Additional support units are dispatched from other nearby stations. In addition to the quint and ambulance, the station also houses the Reserve Squad and the Reserve Command vehicle.
