Public Company Information: NASDAQ: ADSK  SAN FRANCISCO & WASHINGTON – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) is stepping up its efforts to support the next generation of innovators by partnering with President Barack Obama and other top technology and telecom companies. The initiative aims to equip American high school students with the skills needed for careers in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM). As part of this effort, Autodesk will significantly expand its "Design the Future" program, offering free access to 3D design software, project-based curricula, training, and certifications to all middle and high schools across the U.S. in 2014. "We’re seeing a growing demand for skilled workers in our industry, but there's a shortage of qualified graduates," said Carl Bass, Autodesk’s president and CEO. "This is why we're proud to support President Obama’s call to action. Our new commitment ensures that every secondary school in the country will have access to our tools and resources to help students prepare for future STEAM careers." The "Design the Future" program gives educators everything they need to teach critical thinking and problem-solving skills while preparing students for careers in fields like engineering, architecture, and digital design. Launched as a pilot in California in 2013 and later expanded to Texas in 2014, the program provides free access to more than 14 key Autodesk 3D design products, aligned with Common Core and ISTE standards. Over 350 schools in California have already signed up in the first six months. With today’s announcement, Autodesk will extend this offer to over 27,000 secondary schools nationwide, representing a total value of more than $250 million if fully utilized.
