Reporter: Since the launch of BYD forklifts, it has attracted the attention and praise of many merchants. It is understood that the construction of the Shaoguan Industrial Park electric forklift factory was funded by Shaoguan. Can you tell us about the situation?

Wang Zong: Because it is optimistic about the development prospects of forklifts, it is considered to be an industry that is worth a lot of investment. The Shaoguan Industrial Park is used as a vehicle production base for BYD forklifts. After more than four months of preparation, the industrial park has begun to produce small batches, and more than 100,000 square meters will be put into use. It is estimated that the Shaoguan Industrial Park can meet the demand for 20,000 units of annual production. The completion of Shaoguan Industrial Park will effectively increase the production capacity of BYD electric forklifts and fully increase the market share of BYD forklift trucks. The opening ceremony will be held in August.

Reporter: We know that BYD originally did a battery and later made a car. Now it is a forklift. How do you see this development?

Wang Zong: BYD's earliest industry was the battery, and then made mobile phone accessories. The accessories included the R&D and assembly of the whole machine. In 2003, it joined the automotive industry. In the automotive field, we don't only have parts for cars but also cars. We have molds for cars, R&D for cars, assembly of cars, and also the powerful electronics of cars. All the processes involved in the production of cars are complete, so we don’t want to Think of BYD as a battery company that suddenly went to make a car.

What's the relationship between batteries, cars, and forklifts? Because of the machining, the assembly of the complete machine, and the batteries, electronic controls, motors, and electronics technology, BYD has mastered the core technologies. There are many batteries and electronic control technologies that are not available in the forklift factory. We only use it. We only use it. The integration of existing technologies in the horizontal and vertical integration of forklifts is the integration of some of our resources.

Reporter: So what are your strengths and weaknesses compared with some companies that specialize in forklifts?

Wang: In fact, BYD's biggest advantage lies in having a big platform. Specifically, we have advantages in batteries, motors, and electronic controls. Electronic devices, including instruments on forklift trucks, are our own intellectual property rights. The instrument is displayed in all Chinese languages. The display of various codes is unique to BYD. . Now whether they are internal combustion or electric, they are all imported, all in English, many functions are bound, and others set up technical barriers. In addition, our fast charging can achieve one hour of charging, even half an hour charging, and 15 minutes to full battery 50%, which is unmatched by other forklift companies. In the future, it will be equipped with a charger for 2 hours as standard, and an optional quick half-hour charger.

What we lack compared to traditional forklift companies is the experience of the forklift industry. It may not be the same as the recognition of traditional forklifts in terms of recognition, but we are ahead of all the world's forklift trucks in terms of batteries, motors, and fast charging. In addition, our technology reserves, BYD reserves a large number of technologies in the car, we invested heavily in the car's R & D technology we will be synchronized to the forklift, because we belong to the same group, will share all the technical advantages of the group company And platform.

Reporter: BYD Forklift has always advocated environmental protection. What is the starting point? How is the market situation?

Wang Zong: Now that the environmental problem is very serious, it affects everyone's life. We are working on batteries, cars and forklifts. The starting point is to provide customers with a clean and environment-friendly environment. We are making products and protecting the environment. We have done a survey that the exhaust emissions of an internal combustion forklift are equal to the emissions of 100 private cars. Therefore, about 1.2 million of the 1.5 million forklift trucks are internal combustion forklifts. This can be destructive to the environment. know. At the same time, forklifts are generally operated in a closed environment. If they are exposed to contaminated air for a long time, they are also unfavorable to the health of workers. Environmentally friendly forklift trucks can enable employees to operate in a healthy and clean environment. In some special industries, such as airports, pharmaceuticals, food, and cold chain industries, environmental protection requirements are extremely high, and internal combustion forklifts simply cannot meet their environmental needs.

We know that the first decade of our forklift is the rapid development of internal combustion forklifts, and the next decade will be the golden age for the development of electric forklifts. There are several customers who are very interested in BYD electric forklifts. One is a large number of internal combustion forklift trucks. Because they use a lot of fuel every day, they consume a lot of fuel. Although the cost of internal combustion is relatively cheap, the annual cost of use is very high. . There are also a large number of users of lead-acid battery forklifts. Because lead-acid batteries have a long charging time, the battery life is short, and charging is also required to build a charging station. Various restrictions have led to lead-acid battery electric forklifts can not meet the needs of users. The electric forklift we have introduced has the lowest lifespan in terms of fast charging, maintenance free and use cost. The company is also based on the development of forklifts and regards electric forklifts as an industry of the company. At present, BYD electric counterbalanced forklifts are available in the entire series from 1.5 to 3.5. Electric pallet forklifts, electric forklifts and electric reach trucks are also available, and will cover the entire range.

Reporter: The purchase cost of the internal combustion forklift is relatively low, the use cost is relatively high, the purchase cost of the electric forklift is relatively high, and the use cost is relatively low. So is there a comparison between the two?

Wang Zong: We have done a survey, that is, when the frequency of use of forklift trucks is relatively high, a year-and-a-half to two-year period will reach a level between the two.

BYD also made innovations in the sales model of products to reduce customers' investment in purchasing. It can provide customers with a “zero down payment plus installment payment” car purchase model. The money saved by the difference in electric power between the electric forklift and the fuel forklift can support the monthly rent paid by the forklift, which is a zero cost. Group customers do not have to bear the pressure of car purchases at one time, and risk owners do not have to bear the group customers.

Reporter: It is understood that BYD also has overseas promotion. Does it attach great importance to overseas markets?

Wang Zong: In February of this year, we have participated in an exhibition in Germany. The actual overseas market is still in the early stage of promotion. The products also need to do various certifications, including the construction of the network, to investigate the specific needs of overseas customers for products. Now the entire forklift market, China accounts for 40% of the world's volume, 60% are still overseas, and 70% of overseas markets are electric forklifts. Our forklifts are environmentally friendly, energy-efficient, and highly efficient. There are so many advantages that we will not ignore overseas markets. The promotion of China will also be promoted globally.

Reporter: Do you have such a concern, because the current price competition for internal combustion forklifts is very fierce, do you think that with the increase in the number of electric forklift companies, will also stage a price war?

Wang Zong: I personally feel that price competition in any industry will always be an effective means, and it is also inevitable. Why in the price wars, some companies are above the others and some companies are struggling in the trough, which is caused by brands, prices, Technology decided together. At present, we have battery technology and fast charging technology. In the future, we will develop more technologies for on-board electronics. Many things on the top of the car are used on forklifts. In the future, wireless charging or charging and discharging may be implemented. Without chargers, I think that BYD will have breakthroughs in various technologies in the future. BYD has always been a technology-based company and will provide customers with cost-effective products with leading technologies. Of course, with the increase in output, the cost will increase. It will go down, but we will not only talk about prices, or fight price wars.
