Public Company Information: NASDAQ: ADSK SAN FRANCISCO & WASHINGTON – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) is partnering with President Barack Obama and top technology and telecom companies to support the next generation of American students in pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM). As part of this initiative, the company is expanding its "Design the Future" program and offering $250 million worth of 3D design software, project-based curricula, training, and certification to all middle and high schools across the U.S. in 2014. "There's a clear shortage of qualified graduates to fill high-paying jobs in the U.S., and we believe it’s our responsibility to help change that," said Carl Bass, President and CEO of Autodesk. "As a leader in design and engineering software, we are proud to support President Obama’s vision by making our "Design the Future" program accessible to every secondary school in the country over the next year." The "Design the Future" program equips teachers with the tools needed to inspire students and prepare them for future careers in STEAM fields. Initially launched as a pilot in California in 2013 and later expanded to Texas in 2014, the program offers free access to the latest versions of Autodesk's 3D design software, including over 14 key products for architecture, engineering, and entertainment. It also includes curricula aligned with Common Core and ISTE standards, along with teacher training and certification. In just six months, more than 350 schools in California had already joined the program. With today's announcement, Autodesk will now provide free access to its software for educators at over 27,000 secondary schools nationwide. If all schools take advantage of the offer, the total value of the program will exceed $250 million.
