Fire units at the 2015 Rockford Air Show

He mentioned that he managed to snap a few shots during one of the pyrotechnic demonstrations. They simulated an attack run using an A4 aircraft. Things got a bit out of hand when a small brush fire broke out, which gave him the chance to capture some photos of the firefighting equipment being deployed. Since he was several hundred yards away, the quality of the images isn’t perfect, but they’re still quite fascinating.
Attached below are some of the photos he took. The first set shows the pyrotechnics in action at the Rockford Air Show. You can see how intense and dynamic the display was. In another shot, there’s a closer look at the fire trucks that rushed in to handle the brush fire. They did an impressive job getting it under control quickly. There’s also a picture of the Byron Fire Department's mini pumper, which looks compact yet highly capable.
One of the most striking images is the Greater Rockford Airport’s ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting) crash truck. It’s massive and clearly built for handling emergencies on the tarmac. Another great shot is of a fire department water tender, showing its large tank and powerful hoses ready for action.
There are a couple more images of the Byron Fire Department’s mini pumpers, highlighting their maneuverability and efficiency. Even though these pictures were taken from a distance, they give a good sense of the scale and coordination involved in managing such events. Overall, it’s clear that everyone involved did a fantastic job keeping things safe and under control.
These moments really highlight the blend of entertainment and preparedness that goes into organizing an air show like this. It’s not just about the planes; it’s about ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes too.
