(10) At 2:05 pm, the first domestically produced 700,000 kW turbine runner for the Three Gorges Dam's right bank was successfully dispatched from Dongfang Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. weighing in at 497 tons, and was transported to the construction site of the Three Gorges Power Station. This remarkable turbine, featuring the largest single capacity in the world today, is entirely developed with independent intellectual property rights, marking a significant milestone in China’s hydropower technology. The runner consists of the upper crown, lower ring, and 13 blades, with an outer diameter of 10 meters and a height of 5.23 meters. Its overall performance represents a major leap forward compared to the turbines installed on the left bank of the Three Gorges Dam, showcasing advanced engineering and manufacturing capabilities. In just five years, China progressed from 300,000 kW to 700,000 kW in turbine capacity, demonstrating rapid technological advancement.
