Recently, the mechanical loading of catalysts for the largest single reactor in China was successfully completed by a Beijing-based equipment maintenance company. The project achieved a 100% pass rate for bed pressure deviation within ±5%, marking a significant milestone in the industry. This successful implementation of mechanical loading for imported catalysts in the Taiwan reactor is the first of its kind in China's petrochemical sector.
Previously, catalyst loading and unloading in domestic industries were largely done manually, which posed challenges in efficiency and precision. This project introduced two major firsts: it marked the largest single reactor in the country to be equipped with a mechanical loading system, and it was the first time that the U.S.-developed SD catalyst was successfully used in such a large-scale operation.
The company is the only specialized technical firm in China that handles catalyst replacement in tubular reactors. Over the years, it has focused on research and development, pioneering the creation of particle loaders, an engineering database for ethylene glycol/ethylene oxide plants, and bed pressure drop analysis software. It also developed the third-generation catalyst replacement equipment, which has been widely applied in numerous petrochemical enterprises, including Dongfang, Shanghai, Yangzi, Jilin, Sanjiang, and Yanshan Petrochemical.
These systems are known for their high automation, advanced technology, and superior loading quality. In this latest project, the company successfully implemented the filling process for Jilin Petrochemical’s imported glycol catalyst using its own third-generation catalyst loader, further solidifying its leadership in the field.
