SAIC is making significant moves in the commercial vehicle sector, aiming to strengthen its position in the market. The company recently acquired a majority stake in Nanjing Automobile Corporation (NAC), which has allowed it to integrate key assets such as Nanjing Iveco and Chongqing Hongyan into its commercial vehicle division. This strategic expansion marks a shift in SAIC’s focus, as it looks to build a more comprehensive business across passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and automotive components.
With the acquisition of NAC, SAIC now controls several major commercial vehicle brands, including Iveco, Yuejin, and others. These companies are expected to achieve rapid growth this year, with a sales target of 700,000 units compared to 553,000 in 2022. The integration of these brands is part of a broader effort by SAIC to become a leading player in both the passenger and commercial vehicle markets.
One of the key players in this expansion is Nanjing Iveco, which has seen strong performance in recent months. According to internal reports, sales of Nanjing Iveco’s IVECO brand increased by 17% in January compared to the same period last year, while Yuejin brand sales rose by 17% as well. Additionally, Lingye heavy trucks saw a remarkable 150% increase in sales year-on-year.
Despite these positive signs, challenges remain. In the light truck market, NAC still lags behind industry leaders like Foton, Dongfeng, and Jianghuai. However, SAIC believes that leveraging Iveco’s global expertise will help bridge this gap and enhance its competitive edge.
The integration process is expected to take 2-3 years, during which SAIC will focus on optimizing resources, improving R&D capabilities, and aligning operations across its commercial vehicle divisions. Experts suggest that while SAIC has taken the first steps, it will need time to fully realize its vision and compete effectively in the long term.
In addition to expanding its commercial vehicle portfolio, SAIC is also investing heavily in technology and innovation. The company recently established a commercial vehicle technology center with a budget of 100 million yuan, and it has been collaborating closely with the Nanjing Automobile Research Institute to develop new products.
As SAIC continues to consolidate its position in the commercial vehicle market, the road ahead remains challenging but promising. With the right strategies and execution, the company aims to become a true industry leader in all three major automotive segments.
3-ply Adhesive Wrapping Tape
Polyethylene double-sided adhesive anticorrosive inner tape is a new member of the anticorrosive tape anticorrosive system, is based on high-performance polyethylene film, both sides at the same time high-pressure heat compound on high-performance anticorrosive butyl rubber made of tape anticorrosive material, can be cold-wrapped construction, mainly used in oil, natural gas transmission; chemical industry, urban construction of water supply and drainage and gas transmission and other buried steel pipeline external surface corrosion. With convenient construction, no pollution and other characteristics, is one of the anti-corrosion system of choice for pipeline external corrosion.
This anticorrosive inner belt overcomes the low bonding force of the ordinary anticorrosive inner belt to the outer belt, so that the outer belt is tightly bonded to the inner belt by the high performance anticorrosive butyl rubber on the inner belt, and the outer belt will not separate from the inner belt even under severe tension, thus giving the outer belt the dual function of protection and anticorrosive, which greatly improves the anticorrosive effect
