Autodesk introduces Total Carbon Analysis for a more sustainable built environment

The latest updates from Autodesk's AECO portfolio are designed to empower architects, engineers, and construction professionals with smarter tools that support sustainability, efficiency, and innovation. One of the most exciting new features is **Total Carbon Analysis for Architects**, which gives design teams real-time insights into the carbon footprint of their decisions from the very beginning of a project. This helps them make more informed choices that align with global sustainability goals. In addition to this, we've enhanced our AECO suite with **Tandem for AEC**, a digital twin solution that allows firms to deliver rich, connected project data—like asset information, manuals, and warranty details—directly tied to 3D models. This not only improves operational readiness but also unlocks new value for clients. We’ve also expanded AI capabilities in **AutoCAD** and **InfoDrainage**, making it easier to automate tasks, analyze data, and improve design accuracy. These updates are just the start. Over the coming weeks, more enhancements will be rolled out to further streamline workflows, reduce costs, and support the industry’s shift toward more sustainable practices. One of the standout projects made possible by these tools is **The Phoenix**, a multi-family building in the San Francisco Bay Area. Built using Autodesk technology, it was completed at about half the cost, time, and carbon footprint of a traditional building. The design team had access to real-time cost and embodied carbon metrics, enabling them to make impactful decisions early on. Sustainability is no longer optional—it's a priority. That's why we're expanding our collaboration with **Esri**, integrating **ArcGIS® Basemaps** with **Civil 3D** and **AutoCAD** to give civil engineers better geospatial insights. This helps optimize designs that minimize environmental impact and improve long-term outcomes. AI is also playing a bigger role than ever. In **AutoCAD 2025**, we introduced **Smart Blocks** and **Object Detection**, tools powered by Autodesk AI that help users standardize drawings, reuse content, and clean up complex files faster. Meanwhile, the **ML Deluge Tool for InfoDrainage** now offers more interactive and real-time analysis of stormwater systems, helping engineers understand the impacts of their designs more effectively. As the AECO industry continues to evolve, so do our tools. These updates are part of a broader vision to make design and construction more efficient, collaborative, and environmentally responsible. Whether you're an architect, engineer, or construction manager, we’re committed to giving you the tools you need to build a better future—one project at a time.
