National standards for energy consumption limits in nine areas will be implemented

It was recently revealed by the National Standards Committee that the national energy consumption limits for nine mandatory product units will come into effect on June 1 this year. These nine energy consumption standards are part of the first batch of quotas established under the newly revised "Energy Conservation Law of the People's Republic of China." The regulations apply to 22 high-energy-consuming industries and cover key sectors such as crude steel production, caustic soda manufacturing, conventional coal-fired power generation, copper smelting, zinc smelting, lead smelting, nickel smelting, cement production, and building sanitary ceramics. Notably, while the standard for "Energy Consumption Per Unit Quantity of Cement Units" has been revised, the other eight national energy consumption limit standards for product units have been developed for the first time. This marks a significant step forward in setting clear benchmarks for energy efficiency across critical industrial sectors. The introduction of these standards is expected to play a crucial role in supporting national efforts toward energy conservation and emissions reduction. It will also help improve the overall energy efficiency of China's high-energy-consuming industries and strengthen the framework of energy consumption standards in these sectors. By establishing stricter energy usage limits, the government aims to drive innovation, promote sustainable development, and align with global environmental goals.
